Our Story

We’re travelers. We’re collectors of beauty, scavengers of stories, admirers of the authentic. We come from different geographies but believe in the same earth. Baraka Home was a dream to share a space with friends and strangers where we can show objects of intrigue from different parts of the world. We are completely confident that a fresh new look can be created by bringing together aesthetics from geographies and cultures that are not traditionally viewed together. We travel near and far looking for timeless pieces that are unique, one of a kind, touched by the hand of an artist and are either made from natural elements, or simply found in nature. Much of what we offer are objects made from reclaimed materials, recycled, repurposed or brought back to life after a full history distant places and distant times.

Baraka is blessings of the infinite universe, the essence of the breath of God. The word Baraka is found in multiple languages. Our logo, Khamsa (also known as Hand of Fatima), is a symbol of blessings and protection from evil, and is also a cross cultural icon that is appreciated across the world – and thus brings people together.

Baraka Home was established in Winter Park, Florida, in 2008 by Hatem and Beth Akil.
